This novel was a page turner from the start! Can NOT wait for her 2, 3, & 4th continuation of Buddies life and experiences! Her writing style is excellent and reminds me of my favorite Sydney Sheldon novels with suspense and intrigue! 5 stars from me!!!

Emily Antonen has a winner in Counting on You! The plot and character development is extraordinary. I didn't know much about OCD, but learning through Buddy Eckes issues has been enlightening. Patti remains an enigma. The friendship with Dr Ernst and his family occurs as I believed the world would come crashing in on Buddy. You must read the novel. It is great!
I had never read this author before. I have the story line to be very suspenseful with lots of twists and turns. Characters were well developed. Gave you a lot to think about. I found myself thinking all the characters were guilty of the crime. Enjoyable, fast moving read.
Overt bullying, covert passive-aggressive bullying, first year off to college, relationships gone strange—they all seem like conventional enough subjects. But when Ms. Antonen mixes it in with the subculture of forensic education (I found myself Googling to see if this college and the departments really exist), some obsessive behavior, the rage of the number five (which when is not blatant the author so aptly conceals in very mysterious ways, once you start looking), a dead body, some strong-headed and powerful people with cross-purposes, along with strategically placed humor you’re in for a page-turning ride. The hero must use all his skills at hand (no pun off the book cover), dig deep for new ones, and keep his demons at bay long enough to best a grand mystery. As any good novel, this one is an oxymoron every chapter is a reading satisfaction but at the end you’re hoping desperately for a second novel with Buddy.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a compelling complex tale of a normal boy who has to overcome his own unique coping problems, as well as dealing with the hurdles of bullying all his life He finally escapes his hometown bullying by going to an out of town college- only to find that it has followed him. Not only is he dealing with the bullies of his past, he discovers another element of grief from those he should be able to trust. I started this book, and could not put it down-- I had to stay up all night just to finish it, as it grabbed me by the big toe and dragged me well over the finish line. It is a well written, well edited book, a complex mystery, and an enjoyable read. You can't go wrong here! I am now awaiting the rest in the series to be published! I can't wait to see how Buddy continues to manage his OCD affliction in his forensic field.
